Family planning should never be so difficult. I’ve been researching international adoption and surrogacy for a year now and I don’t find myself any closer to figuring it all out.
My newest endeavor is finding out what I can about what insurance will cover if we do go through with surrogacy. It’s hard to get good numbers for everything because of all the differing variables of each situation. My insurance coverage is changing so I have to wait until April 1st to get all the details from the new company we’re under. It blows my mind that I can’t (or shouldn’t) mention that my husband and I may do surrogacy to have a baby or they’ll flat out say no – or so I’ve heard.
In the meantime, “no shopping, you want a baby” – is my new mantra to help save every penny we can.
Fun facts about my wonderful daughter, Chloe is learning to sing her ABC’s. We’re starting to show her the alphabet so that she can learn and make that connection. Speaking of which, I wonder if she knows her colors in Chinese. I should ask my mom (who has been teaching her Chinese since Chloe was born). I have a little bit of desire in me to learn my culture’s language just to understand what Chloe does/will. Honestly, I suck at learning languages. Took 3 years of Spanish and 4 years of Mandarin – I remember nothing. Passed all my classes too. I should be ashamed at how much I don’t know. My brain just doesn’t like to retain anything other than English. Excuses, excuses.
